We focus on the essentials to get you playing quickly:
how to hold the ukulele comfortably
easy tuning (with simple tools)
a small set of beginner chords that unlock lots of songs
smooth chord changes (with tips to make it easier)
basic rhythm and strumming patterns
playing songs at a relaxed pace
how to practise at home in 5–10 minutes a day
Style: fun, relaxed, practical, and song-based
Pace: slow enough to feel comfortable, with plenty of repetition
Group size: small and friendly (so everyone gets support)
Accessibility: we can adapt grip, strumming, tempo, breaks, seating, and learning style
Typical session flow:
Warm-up (hand exercises + simple chords & rhythm)
One new chord or technique
Song practice (with lots of guidance)
Optional “tiny homework” to keep you progressing
A ukulele (or contact me if you need advice before buying)
A clip-on tuner or tuning app (I can recommend free options)
Reading glasses if you use them
A drink and a sense of curiosity
No ukulele yet? Message me — I’ll help you choose something affordable and comfortable.
I’ll be launching Uke Little Sprouts (group classes for children) in the near future. While those groups aren’t running yet, I’m happy to offer 1:1 ukulele lessons for children in the meantime.
These sessions are fun, gentle, and pressure-free, with a focus on learning through songs and simple practice — no music theory required. Lessons can be adapted to your child’s age, attention span, and learning style.
Interested? Get in touch to discuss availability, location (Kidlington/Oxford area - I can travel if you live within a short distance), and what would suit your child best.
